There is much debate recently about whether Ethereum is "decentralized". This article reveals concerns of some ConsenSys AG (CAG) shareholders about transfer of intellectual property to a new subsidiary called ConsenSys Software Incorporated (CSI), which resulted in JP Morgan obtaining stakes in Infura and Metamask. Is this an example of legacy institutions hijacking key Ethereum infrastructure, or just part of the process of moving towards adoption? Do we feel comfortable having legacy institutions having this level of involvement? Will it result in possible censorship?
"The deal, known within CAG as Project North Star, resulted in financial institutions (JPMorgan) winning a significant slice in the company’s lucrative intellectual property (IP), specifically MetaMask and Infura."
