Althea is using meshnets to bring decentralised internet services to rural/underserved areas. The service runs Dai stablecoin in the background for paymemt and users can increase or decrease their bandwith requirements. There is even a free basic option "Right now, Althea has a small footprint of five decentralized networks, but larger ambitions ahead. Two of those current networks are recently established in Africa, with a network in Abuja offering Internet access that is “20 times faster and five times cheaper than legacy, mobile-only ISPs,” according to a release."
