This is a great analysis of p2p cash as it stands. I appreciate the user focus of the entire article because we need more people telling like it is. Case and point:
"People just want to safely send and receive their money between people they know and merchants they engage."
What's also really nice is the super recent integration with Connext (https://connext.network/), a free, open-source, p2p micropayment infrastructure built using payment channels on Ethereum.
