McCarthy will be the new Speaker of the House after winning 216 to 212.

Kevin may hold the gavel, but Matt Gaetz and Lauren Boebert hold the real power in the House. Kevin McCarthy is a Speaker in Name Only. Like if you agree [@AlexCPoon](/user/profile/AlexCPoon) 👍😃

The whole thing is a mess — It’s going to be a fight at every turn.

McCarthy holds his position because of a gerrymandered district. I am a California and I have spent much time in the Southern San Joaquin valley and I am NOT a democrat but i do know that Clovis and the Antelope valley should not be in the same district. And why does it include oildale and the west side but not the rest of bakersfield? and half of visalia? ridiculous, not even subtle. I think Seems quite silly that the Democrat Jeffries consistently got more votes than him in most of the previous 14 ballots, but it was all meaningless. Then the first thing the new Speaker does is immediately repeal an initiative simply because the opposition party started it with a previous Speaker. American politics feel like Four years of one thing, then Four years undoing the work of the previous administration, and so on ad infinitum. What you think now?
