I speculated at the beginning of this war that a prolonged war would be attractive to the West. The longer it goes on the more pressure will build on Putin because of deaths, the monetary costs and projection of power. I have no doubt some western war hawks will be happy to see it continue because of this. It also allows new weapons/strategies to be tested and increases arms sales, which is attractive to the global military industrial complex. How we find peace I have no idea tbh. but I fear the longer it goes on the real losers will be the civilians who just want to live a peaceful life without fear, as is always the case in war. The war has also played nicely into the hands of all states around the world allowing them to further justify censorship of "disinformation" and lock down flows of finance. We need to consider this in the context that we are entering a period of time where the concept of the "nation state" is being truly being challenged by technological advancements. We can see that this war has facilitated greater isolationism and protectionism which works in the nation states favour at a very opportune time in history.
