The problem stems from the top, you have a prime minister who got into power mobilizing on religious prejudice. There are rumours that before being in national office he was part of violence actions against Moslems. Modi is driven by hatred against all non-Hindus in India. India has a long history of religious strife but unlike during the days of the Congress Party (which had its shortcomings), the reality is that you now have a religious lunatic in office. Indians, irrespective of their religious affiliations, have a lot in common, they want socio-economic changes to their lives. India has one of the widest gap between the poor and rich in the world, these are basic challenges but the political elites use religion to divide the poor, the working class and rural poor. It is totally outrageous.
