>"6PR broadcaster Oliver Peterson says Joe Biden should “stand up” and say the AUKUS pact was an “important strategic move” amid the controversy surrounding the axed submarine deal between Australia and France.
The US President has claimed he believed the French knew the $90 billion contract with Australia would be terminated ahead of time and told French President Emmanuel Macron the handling of the AUKUS deal had been “clumsy”.
However, The Australian is reporting a confidential document reveals Mr Biden’s advisors in the White House National Security Council were aware France had not been told its submarine deal was doomed ahead of the announcement of the AUKUS pact.
“I really worry about his leadership and his credentials there,” Mr Peterson said.
“I mean, stand up and say this was an important strategic move for the United States to join forces with Australia and the UK.”"
