Know what Tony Blair wants & that's to relive past glories & avoid little details like had to resign due to Iraq war & growing unpopularity which was also reason they picked Ed as leader & not you. Why not try asking people what they want from Labour not impose dated ideas?

Ex UK Prime Minister Tony Blair gives his thoughts on the decline of UK Labour and the difficulties faced by the global Progressive movement and how they need to adapt to gain power. He makes great reference to the technological changes afoot in the world and how we are at an inflection point in history because if them. Arguably Blair is one of the prime Neoliberalists of recent times and he made some graves errors of judgement during his long time in power, but he's a highly intelligent operator who appears acutely aware of the challenges the left and progressive face.

I mean from across the pond it looked as if Blair almost killed Labour. In this piece he is on the right track, but still some key pieces are missing. I really wish he would read some Hanzi Freinacht.

He dragged the Labour party into government by widespread changes which manifested as "New Labour" winning power in 1997 and they managed to hold power for 13 years. He handed over the reigns to Gordon Brown a couple of years before their election defeat in 2010. In a way he made them into an election winning party, but as with all long term governments they lost their gloss and direction and there were huge questions over them dragging us into the Iraq war. So yes, his and browns legacy eventually ment the Labour party had to reinvent itself to escape the spectre of "Blarism", but he was a huge part in them being in power so long in the first place.

It should be recognise that if Labour can’t control its own brand image then Corbyn/Starmer are just as much to blame as the media for the perception of Labour being capture by “woke” politics. They don’t do enough to actually portray *what* Labour stands for, so the media can fill in the blanks for voters. That’s not to say Starmer needs to come out *against* woke politics though. In fact, not engaging with it at all would be the best option for Labour.
