Nothing solidifies a community better than a common enemy. Obviously I do not condone what's happening in Xinjiang but let's not kid ourselves into thinking western states don't get up to atrocities wherever their tendrils reach. As nation states attempt to dampen down the fracturing of their own societies as populism explodes further, we can expect more attempts to define "common enemies" that they can rally their populations around.
