I’m a former Wayfair employee, and this sounds on par with some of the toxic behaviors I observed from a portion of the managers as well. During the critical moments when employees ask for help or support, we need to meet them where they are with empathy and compassion. From the article: “If we can’t figure out how to help people who’ve got caregiving responsibilities hold on to their jobs, then we’re doing something wrong,” said DiBona’s lawyer, Thomas Gallitano. “This is something that we’ve got to figure out as a culture and as a country.”

Also, add this from the article: “We have been and continue to be strongly committed to providing all of our caregivers with the support and flexibility they need to help manage the additional responsibilities and challenges presented by the pandemic,” the statement added. As per my ready, Wayfair has a long history for being ruthless and treating all their employees poorly, especially older employees. They generally don't hire older people in the first place (nor do older people apply), but when they do management and co-workers treat them poorly. I wish people who don't know the inside scoop on Wayfair would stop commenting and defending them. This is a sick company and I hope this lawsuit becomes a class action and takes them to their knees.
