Yikes! “On Monday officials from Pinellas County in Florida announced that an unidentified hacker remotely gained access to a panel that controls the City of Oldsmar's water treatment system, and changed a setting that would have drastically increased the amount of sodium hydroxide in the water supply.”

Utilities systems are a huge infrastructure weakness for cyberattacks in this country, from large power grids to smaller municipal water systems. Hackers have been testing the edges of many of these systems for years, yet many remain incredibly vulnerable.

Hacker should be tracked anyhow and booked for war crimes.

Crazy that such systems are connected to the internet at all, in such unsafe ways. Why is it necessary to be able to change that setting online? Why is it even possible to set it to such a dangerous value? Was the hacker malicious, or just pointing out this danger?

Oh! that's great Marco. Also what is a matter of national security is that Trump would never be able to run for office. We almost had our reps and speaker dragged out of Capitol. 5 died. Don't you agree Marco??? Or should we let this one go?

Such a great idea to be able to interact with critical health systems (because they are). I just wonder about all the corporate assholes busy to push these systems, aren't you Joseph Cox?

This is wild. Here you have multiple local government officials on camera saying that a hacker was very close to poisoning an entire town by breaching a water treatment facility

Making a prior tweet more clear (watch the press conference yourself): the hacker changed certain chemicals in the drinking water treatment process, but was caught early. So there doesn't seem to have been a big impact.

Im confused. Why would a water treatment facility have remote access? Why would it not have an additional manual authentication aspect? Finally, and most importantly, have these people never watched a Die Hard movie? Cmon.
