From the article: Redistricting and gerrymandering will make it even easier for extremists to win elected offices. Gerrymandering makes the task of running as an extremist and if necessary, primarying an opponent much easier. Next year’s three most notorious extremists in the new Congress, Madison Cawthorne, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Lauren Boebert, all ran in Republican districts, all won primaries against seemingly more mainstream Republicans (and in Boebert’s case, beat an incumbent), and all faced electorates in the general that would have voted for a Republican no matter what. More than likely we’ll see even more Republican districts like these emerge after redistricting next year.
