Coronavirus & drug addiction, two mammoth epidemics our world is faced with. After reading this article, I am lost for words... frustrated... as to why one epidemic is being responded to more so than the other. Maybe it's that I can empathize with those suffering from addiction.... Is it that drug induced deaths are not exciting enough to present on the news? Is it just 'old' news? Was it the individuals choice to overdose and die? Are they 'bad' people? Or could they be suffering from a chronic brain disease (addiction) that can be treated? I do hope that one day, society will stand up and take significant action to combat drug addiction. A vast amount of drug induced deaths CAN be reduced. Now to bring things back down to earth on a human level...... Imagine this..... The families behind the suffering addict... Watching their loved one from the sidelines wasting away, helpless, in pain, confused, searching for answers. That could be your child who requires the help. Society just needs to be guided in the right direction, education, awareness. Maybe the same media hype that coronavirus has received? Or just 10% of the hype Kylie Jenner received for creating a new makeup product?
