Torture is understandably viewed as unethical and it is prohibited worldwide. But what’s the alternative? A new psychological study, published by the Journal of Applied psychology: General, has come up with an ethical alternative that may be effective.

It does make me wonder why it took decades for field operatives to establish that “being nice” can be much more effective at gaining intelligence from reluctant detainees than "being nasty".

Indeed torture couldn't be a good solution . It pressurize and creates several impacts in human mentality. There could be pyshocological ways to replace it.

Torture and other coercive techniques are often used when suspected terrorists refuse to yield information. And it is not just the US that has used these techniques. While the UK government has consistently denied allegations of complicity in this type of behaviour during the so-called war on terror, there is a fair amount of evidence to suggest otherwise.

I personally think that mental abuse is more severe than physical abuse. It affects the mental health of a person more than it affects the physical abuse. Therefore, it is very important for everyone to be aware of physical or mental abuse. It is a matter of mentality. If you apply your mentality properly, conscious people have the power to change their minds. I don't think mental and physical abuse can be stopped by enforcing the law here.

Innocent people end up being tortured all the time, and it is not hard to see why it is prohibited. Given that the evidence suggests it doesn’t work well anyway, it should be a no-brainer to at least explore whether our approach could be a promising alternative.
