‘Give someone enough time to process what they’re reading, and they’re more likely to believe the truth… But time is an increasingly rare commodity.’

The simple quantity of information we are presented with today is overwhelming. 90% of all data produced in history has occured in the last 24 months!

The article is interesting, but unfortunately, there is no mechanic to deal with the problem. How can a person calm the flow of information consumed and use it effectively?

People just must choose info they consume everyday more wisely. Sure, last 20 years it far more info than previous time, but you need only important one and can easily ignore trash "fast-food" info. Don t see a problem here, honestly speaking.

The healthy discriminating wisdom required to do as you suggest is probably possessed by less than 1/2 of the US adult population. “In Over Our Heads” and “The Twilight of American Culture” are both more 20 years old. “Future Shock” is even older. This is a problem 30 to 60 years in the making. It will require personal, educational, and political growth and development to address.

Excellent article. Being bombarded with tons of irrelevant information is 90% of the problem. I don't mind information that is relevant. Very often I get phone calls from people and my entire goal is to get to what they are " sharing " and either take action or end the call. Relevant gives me a way to sort the information and as the service evolves i'm sure it will become easier for me to find information on niche specific areas without wading through garbage. The benefit of a community incentivised to downvote irrelavent information is that I don't have to waste my time mentally "down voting". Thanks for sharing. comment, reply upvote :) Kindest Regards, Cian

If only we could unlock our brains, right? Sounds silly, I know, but it’s almost like the movie Limitless and being able to access those different regions for processing purposes. Our brains are working overtime and we are no longer able to process.

Internet has made information creation and sharing extremely easy. The quantum of available is hence enormously difficult to filter and use as per each instance.

”As information becomes more accessible, news cycles often struggle to keep one topic in focus for long. A political scandal on Monday that would have rocked the nation for weeks in decades past might be out of the news cycle by Tuesday now. This can sometimes be by design, as politicians learn that one of the best ways to combat breaking news is with more breaking news. It’s a strategy that former Trump campaign strategist Steve Bannon referred to as “flooding the zone with shit.”"
