I understand this article is trying to frame the nuances of gender discrimination in Hong Kong but it reads like a reinforcement of those sexist narratives...like the westernized interpretation of Kong girl as basic bitch sounds off to me but I don’t have perspective. I would be curious to read more. “According to Cheung, the media are starting to “spin the term ‘Kong Girl’ in a more positive way” as a result of the protests. “We can reclaim this term. Who cares if we do all the stuff that people say we do? It doesn’t mean anything about our commitment to Hong Kong.”
