"Trend-forecasting is dead; please simply exist in the world.”
"Trend-forecasting is dead; please simply exist in the world.”
I definitely believe in this sentiment, I'm currently in my last year of college for Fashion Marketing and this has been such a talking point between most of the students at my university. Trying to analyze something that changes constantly has in a sense diminished the uses for Trend-forecasting. Forecasting now is simply used by fast fashion corporations to churn out as much items as they can just until something sticks, so that then it gives designers the luxury of time, indicating which trends and products will be successful and when. This is not only accelerating the death of trends but contributing to an increase of apparel waste.
