Great essay. It explains why so often, while wearing a mask in public, I sometimes can't comprehend what a person says to me. As if everything outside of my bubble is incomprehensible. Reality doesn't feel real.

I'm kind of disappointed this wasn't in more of a "Flowers for Algernon" style tho, like it would start as a very smart science piece and slowly devolve into a bad hot take and then loosely related tweets and finally a TikTok
