For the launch show, Games We Play (until 1 November), a series of witty and warm summertime images by Luke Stephenson, Julie Cockburn and Weronika Gęsicka are dotted around 15 seating benches (all socially distanced of course). The show, organised by The Photographers’ Gallery in London, serves up sunkissed scenes such as a melting ice cream adorned with a shower of rainbow-bright toppings, along with a series of audacious 1940s bathers. Brett Rogers, director of The Photographers’ Gallery, says: “In advance of the gallery’s own plans to transform the public realm outside its Soho venue during the course of 2021, this partnership represents an exciting opportunity for the public to enjoy photography outdoors within the safe and attractive spaces afforded by N1C.” The next show planned for the new arty outdoor space will be organised by the mentoring organisation Mentivity.
