If the banks are so concerned about receiving their precious interest payments they should have thought to write prepayment penalties into their contracts. And, by the way, if these loans were going into default instead of potentially being paid off early, they’d be hollering for a slice of government payments, too. I really hope the administration can resist this pressure on principle. The “risk for you, profits for me” expectations the banks operate with is completely out of control.
