"Economists believe in full employment. Americans think that work builds character. But what if jobs aren’t working anymore?"
"Economists believe in full employment. Americans think that work builds character. But what if jobs aren’t working anymore?"
The article does a good job of analysing the state of employment but never really addresses the nature of work. There seems, to me, to be a large distinction between the two. Employment is some arrangement where we trade our labour or services for remuneration. Work, on the other hand, is a much broader category, perhaps encompassing any productive activity.
