With so many Americans now struggling to sustain a middle-class standard of living, threats to the nation’s long-term prosperity and to middle-class security demand a wider prism.

The U.S. needs to regain the trust of her allies and partners, which no longer have confidence that the deals struck with one U.S. administration will survive the transition to the next.
