According to The Economist's estimates, a single American wearing a mask for a day is helping avoid a fall in GDP of $56.14. Even if we spent $1 on a new one every day, we would be looking at more than a 56x return. So wear a mask.

What about those who are wearing mask, shouting shoulder to shoulder in protest, would you say that's help "avoid fall in GDP", these academias are ridiculous with their studies these days, they try to be too bias even in research just to prove a political point. It's just a shame what some researchers have become just because of politics

Isn’t that low though ? One would have to be wearing masks for a year, maybe longer. Using disposable masks, one may spend more than 60$ that in a year. Reusable masks may be cheaper, but needs to be washed frequently. Or am I missing something ? I do wear masks though and think is the right thing to do, but would hope the economic benefit to be greater an order of magnitude greater at least.

A face mask mandate could potentially substitute for lockdowns that would otherwise subtract nearly 5% from GDP.”

Wearing a mask doesn't just save lives, it can also help people save money. If the United States were to mandate that all Americans wear masks, it would save the country from deleterious economic lockdowns that would reduce the gross domestic product by 5%, or about $1 trillion, according to an analysis by Goldman Sachs.

Assuming universal mask wearing prevents a 5% loss to GDP, the habit would lead to roughly $3,000 in savings per person in the U.S.
