So what is the cause of the problem? There are a number of factors, from the US importing huge volumes of low-cost honey from overseas, to insufficient labelling rules, and even outright cheating - whereby honey is mixed with cheaper ingredients, such as corn syrup.

Maybe meeting the demands could be one major reason for importing honey.Although adulteration is one major problem in food segments as cheaper substitutes are sought to maximise the profits which has a direct consequence on health. A good example is sugar industry where some amount of adulteration happens with saccharin which is roughly 300 times more sweeter than sugar.
