It's not a collective suicide, it's a few hundred billionaires, CEOs, and politicians deciding they won't be around to deal with it so why not. Humanity didn't kill itself, they killed humanity. It's murder. What we need is radical, uncomfortable change and regulation. It has to come from the top, because capitalist profit driven economy will never voluntarily self regulate. Unfortunately, our political system is by design, slow and reactive. The crisis we face now is at odds with the way that countries function, fundamentally, and I don't see any way that that changes.
