The fact that we precisely know how to act to mitigate climate change and how to adapt to the disasters but that we do not act on it is extremely depressing. We should have done something for decades. Lobbies and big companies prevented any societal change that would have negatively impacted their short-term benefits, they still do. They decided that money has more value than human lives and our species survival. At this stage I don't think we can hope for a happy ending.
