1/2 I just read your article. I have to say I disagree with you on some key aspects. To the point: solarpunk seems more entwined with spirituality in a new agey astrological sense, while cyberpunk focuses on the the flaws of our individuality and the limiting aspects of humanity.

Most humans would surely prefer a Solarpunk structure to society over Cyberpunk. Which is most likely to be our future?

Cyberpunk can be dystopian or not, but it accepts that people will use technology in ways that deviate from what those trying to control everything and make a pretty utopia have in mind. If Solarpunk, there is a possibility that the planet could be green. Also political extremism would lose support from the population. And it is likely that the solarpunk would bring up the utopia and the planet would become green. So, I prefer Solarpunk to live a nice, peaceful life.

While I of course agree our technology can be better utilized to save our dying world, I think that cyberpunk fully realizes that humanity is too selfish to focus on the greater good, which has brought us to these dystopian future. Keeping our humanity and focusing our efforts..

I am not sure why people get this wrong all the time. The # VR in cyberpunk fiction was a reaction to the dystopia that was being forced on society. The heros were always fighting against it. Perhaps those readers who love the dystopia are the ones who are causing it today.
