"Geoengineering typically refers to two different approaches to cooling the planet. The first are technologies that change the reflectivity of the earth. Reducing the amount of sunlight that hits the surface of the earth by about one percent is enough to offset the warming that comes from a doubling of atmospheric CO2 levels (a common benchmark used by climate scientists)."
