In my opinion, that's one thing the article points out - a lot of the people taken in by these conspiracies have very little tech ability or knowledge. Also, they were never taught to question their news source and not take it as fact. The mentality is, what they read must be true, and have never learnt to do their own research, even if that means reading an article that goes against their narrative to get a more balanced view. This would make them very uncomfortable and most baby boomers have had a pretty easy run of things so they are not accustomed to putting themselves out.
