NFTS are not just pictures; they can also serve as powerful mechanisms for funding projects that create positive social and environmental impact.
What does that look like in practice?
Last week I started learning about "Hypercerts," a technology used to track and reward positive impact being worked on over Protocol Labs and Supermodular
I'm still learning more, but Hypercerts are NFTS that function like certificates of impact that people can earn when they do something good for the world. So how do they work?
1. A contributor initiates a Hypercert, outlining their mission and goals.
2. If funding is required, investors provide support through the Hypercert, receiving a share in return.
3. The contributor generates the intended impact or public good.
4. An impact evaluation follows, assessing the results achieved.
5. Successful outcomes surface, attracting further funding.
6. A virtuous cycle of impact creation and funding continues.
By creating a way to measure, share, and incentivize impact, along with leveraging the existing public goods economy, hypercerts could revolutionize the way we think about sustainable development, social impact, and responsible investing.
