I don't see how any CBDC will offer anonymity. They will all have to come with backdoors. I also doubt I'll be able to pick up some E-Rupees or whatever and head off to my favourite dex. CBDCs are one of the biggest threats to civil liberties.

Initially dismissing crypto and blockchain, the Reserve Bank of India later changed their stance to favour anonymity. They fear the instability of widespread crypto adoption and seek control by creating a centralized infrastructure for digital currency.
