As our favorite alien general from Star Wars would say: “It’s a trap!” If you stake on this, you are either a Bot or your discernment is as bad as one. Have fun wasting your resources! Maybe ask for your money back from the bot seller?

Is this post Relevant? Is this post Hot? Is this post Spam? Who can say? Oh, right, people can not bots and algorithms! 😘

I am literally not understanding a bit what is happening with this post! I downvoted it right at the beginning and still people are blindly upvoting it without even looking at the title of the post let alone the comments! Users have started to act like bots now I guess. Looks like even some members with reputation has upvoted it too as this post is now started to get relevant :-)

It is a combo of actual bots and pseudobots (humans doing so little thinking that they are indistinguishable from bots). I also think some are trying to bluff the ranking to trick others into voting it up.

Yeah that is the actual case I guess. Otherwise at least the caption "Its a trap" would have created some hesitation before upvoting. This post's back end check would be cool 😂. However, its already 2k, lets see where this rally ends 😱

I have no idea how it is displaying positive w/ an Admin down vote. [@slava](/user/profile/slava) is this the old rep cheating/bluff back in action or something else?

Same here. I was astonished by seeing the post finding its way back to the top and the funny thing is that its still increasing. There is something fishy about this and it could be a bug as well. Let's wait for the unveil of the mystery :-)

I am surprised, really, people are upvote blindly, don't they see what kind of Trap it is, really, either blind people are here or they are boats? Now it will be interesting to see how many coin bets 😀 From Hardworking boats Now itz 2.3k

[@DrEllisJaruzel](/user/profile/DrEllisJaruzel) This post is neither Relevant nor Hot but posted by a highly reputed user (admin) that's the reason people (more accurately, bots are staking on this). This is the function of how bots really work. I really wonder why they do use bots for staking? for earning more?? Isn't not great that they are not only getting relevant news but also better earning as compare to another platforms.

Yeah the fact that it is posted by an admin is playing a role here is very much true. But the concept of upvoting was not supposed to work this way that if an admin shares a post you should blindly upvote it. A user should only upvote when he/she thinks that this is a good article and it likely has more chance of getting relevant in that particular community. In addition to that, it is normal to expect that a user would atleast read the title of an article before upvoting it. So, seems like there is something mysterious going on with this article as it has got a very good relevance. And what the bot usually does is that it auto bets as soon as an article is posted. So mainly the bots are the first upvoters of an article and likely all the other upvotes has come from pseudobots (humans doing so little thinking that they are indistinguishable from bots) exactly like what [@DrEllisJaruzel](/user/profile/DrEllisJaruzel) has said.

Yes, I do agree with you. as you said user should not upvote blindly just because of admin has posted it but what if user who staking is really not a human? Its almost confirmed that they are not human but bot. Well, we hope relevant admins and team will fix these things soon and only genuine user will left. Let's work and support for better tomorrow.

How do we resolve this though? Is there a technical fix or do we continue to try and disincentivise through actions like this? Another alternative would be for high rep users to post with an alternative account and then up vote it, but I think we're heading into murky water there. Could we allow anonymous posting where the name of the poster is only revealed after a specific time frame (i.e after 10 minutes). Should we turn off notifications for recent upvoted posts?

I think a window to allow original poster “first dibs” will lessen the value of automatically betting. I also think transparency about betting will allow mods some leeway. Probably impossible to solve completely, but can reduce incentives.

Yes that could be a good place to start. Shall we see if we can get it instigated for the crypto feed? Would this be easy to implement [@slava](/user/profile/slava) ?

When we designed the system we anticipated this sort of behavior - it actually has some benefits - the bots ensure that posts form users with rep don’t get lost - you can always find them at the top of the Hot feed. To stay competitive, these bots will eventually need to become more sophisticated and once they do, they turn into recommendation engines (obv we are a long way away from that). Re: letting author have first bet. I’m still going back and forth on this. I understand the frustration, but at the same time posting content shouldn’t necessarily be about earning rewards. At the same time it does make sense to balance not incentives. Re: reputation manipulation - this is only estimates and will get reset. Even if bots were able to earn more rep the voting power would quickly get diluted.
