Chicago Mayor's Office Officer Lori Lightfoot said in a statement that the Columbus statues - in Grant Park and Arrigo Park - had been temporarily removed until further notice on his orders. This move was triggered by the death of Afro American man George Floyd when arrested by the police. His death in Minneapolis led to protests in the US and internationally against police brutality and racial inequality.

the reasons are: Statues of perpetrators of slavery and colonialism still stand after hundreds of years black residents whose ancestors became slaves and built the United States with blood, sweat and life, feel it is not natural if the statue is still standing nearly 200 years later in a country that claims independence. indeed for obedient white citizens it is a hero. but for blacks it is considered a slave boss.
