Actually a really interesting article. I like how she works through aesthetics of her posting in a very granular way; by transcribing visual language into the written, I think she emphasizes how overwhelming and dissonant content can be. It's also can be a struggle, I think, to tell the story of social media because it is a network of highly individualistic usages. As with architecture, platforms encourage users toward certain behaviour, so that regardless of Dayna's capacity to self-regulate her relationship with Instagram, she still slowly adjusts her behaviour in accordance with the app's design.

Completely agree. The essay “Content Industrial Complex” by Dena Yago that Dayna mentions in the article is also a very interesting read. She goes in depth about the relationship between companies and users on social media that I found eye opening and pretty similar to the above article. “This would be the place to speak about René Girard, about influencers, about the mise en abyme of mimetic desire: we want what other people want because other people want it, and it’s penciled-in eyebrows all the way down, down to the depths of the nth circle of hell where we all die immediately of a Brazilian butt lift, over and over again. But what is there to say? We know it, we know it, we know it. Still we keep scrolling, deeper down the well of our bottomless need.”
