I experience this article as one example of how far behind mainstream media and health and wellness practitioners are from the long-standing wisdom traditions. As a result, much of society’s basic knowledge is lacking too, since most people don’t look further than the mainstream media for knowledge. Keeping us in the dark about basic human wellness principles works well for the food and pharmaceutical industries. This persists at the expense of humanity’s collective health and wellness. For example, Ayurveda has known this for 1,000’s of years - “Dr. Ramsey argues that a poor diet is a major factor contributing to the epidemic of depression, which is the top driver of disability for Americans aged 15 to 44, according to a report by the World Health Organization.” Unfortunately today, rather than listening to our bodies and minds, most of society needs big, expensive studies and clinical results to convince us of the benefits eating well provides.

I was listening to a podcast about chocolate on French culture; and as documentaries tend to do, there were alot of citations of letters written from different conquistadors, doctors (colonizers) and often they were writing about how different things aliments made them *feel*. ie; you can eat chocolate in the morning and march all day, feeling light energized and alive; the same types of comments for different tortillas etc... It seemed so distant to hear people talk about food that way.
