Interesting proposal to emphasize data ownership and compensate users for their data. This is something Jaron Lanier has been arguing for also. But I’m skeptical this can lead to practical changes or actual money in people’s pockets. We have been paying for the use of free services with our data so and most people will gladly check another checkbox giving away their rights in exchange for Gmail staying free. Feels like GDPR has been kind of a flop also, but correct me if I’m wrong. "Keith's run for congress is premised on a new approach to personal data, and a proposed dividend that will be familiar to the Yang Gang."

Wouldn't people get more eager to share more data if it pays. The entire IG influencer community migrating to direct pay for data systems has a bit of nightmarish vibe to it? Steemit has shown me that it doesn't necessarily create a better community building context perse. It does spark that creative hussle itch. I feel GDPR is more of an attempt to "stay up" with the stream of rapid development. Hesitant to say it's a lack of knowledge, ability to create up to date teams or signs of eroding EU.

To me, the suggestion of compensating users for their data seems too complex to implement. For example, in the case of influencers, who exactly gets compensated, the influencer or all their fans? The data also gets repackaged, combined and resold to various actors, so its unclear to me how one would actually price any given user's data... Seems like raising corporate taxes on tech companies and putting that money towards UBI is a more realistic approach.

Yeah - the how's and what's are also unclear to me (JFK) it's to fast of a description he gives, talking about all personal data. Him and Yang are also zeitgeist spirits in the sense that they are articulate and bold about these topics and platforms. Proper opposition towards these agendas is important, create some cracks. More specific I think health data could become a more concrete example where people can deside how and which data is used for research. Something like Nebula Genomics but then also implemented in your visits to you GP.
