I find the life hacking phenomenon to be particularly saddening. It feels like most people are hacking themselves to become more extreme versions of the aspirational ghosts society pushes on us, rather than to get closer to our true selves. Alan Watts has done a lot of inspiring thinking on the subject. Parker Palmer has too. I wrote about this in my newsletter too. You can find that issue here -
