What next? I've been following FOAM for 1+ years now, but am not a tech guy, just someone interested in what you are doing. Long ago I purchased tokens, staked POI's and recently a few Signals, and a, waiting to hear next-steps re: Beacons. I wanted to know if there is anything else I can do at this time? (Other than purchase more tokens and add more POI and Signals). Thanks, and happy to see where FOAM goes from here.

A quick intro to me, MurphSlaw. I've been interested in the FOAM project since the instant I became aware of it which I understand is a broadly felt sentiment. Typical to many blockchain projects, participation and a sense of involvement comes with developer experience. The participation available to assist as a cartographer has kept me close and connected with the FOAM project and the efforts of the FOAM team. My commitment is currently evolving into preparations for the facilitation and operation of a large cluster of Zone Anchors. I too, [@jslusser](/user/profile/jslusser) , wonder what else I can contribute as a cartographer. I have worked in businesses with mapping and local directory listings at the core of their service. Adding points of interest (POI) is not difficult but it definitely is tedious work. When I first started, I didn't have a system. Points I added were on a whim and in a random nature across various categories. There is a lot of time lost when looking for and deciding what POI's you are going to add next. Adding POI's across a broad set of categories does lend to a nicer distribution in the area you are developing but I learned it comes at the cost of limiting a greater volume of POI entries within a working session. The method I found most useful in my contributory work was finding and saving lists that contained most of the information needed like addresses, phone numbers, website urls, etc. even if all the entries pertained to a single category or even many locations of the same company. Even though you may resist this method feeling the region you are developing will seem lopsided, in the end it will actually become more densely populated with just as much if not more diversity. Up to this point, much of cartographer's time with the FOAM map has been a time of getting acquainted with it and there have been a great number of POI entries registered. We now face unique times and I believe that one of the fundamental responsibilities of cartographers is to set the map's agenda. In times like we are currently experiencing with the corona virus pandemic, I can envision cartographers coming together to assist in curating to the common global health theme and creating a positive impact for all other work done by others on the chain. Imagine FOAM cartographers worldwide uniting focusing their entries to be related to the health industry. It could provide a great foundation for globally inspired and shared testing applications worldwide. Maybe we can add appropriate health related categories of interest within this forum so we can all work together and share lists that can accelerate the entries of POI's worldwide. I currently found a nice resource at the Official website of the Department of Homeland Security and am currently working on adding Port of Entry locations for U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the State of Illinois. The directory provides listings for every state in the United States which lends to numerous and quick consecutive entries during a cartographer's working session. Customs & Border Protection [https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports](https://www.cbp.gov/contact/ports) Other categories of interest where list/link sharing to directories with easy to submit entries could prove beneficial would be company or other listings in categories such as these: Medical supplies 24 hour clinics Pharmacies Clinics Hospitals Emergency Services Hazardous materials Shipping Ports Hope this adds to our positive forward momentum! Best Wishes and Play It Safe... We'll get though it... We always do! MurphSlaw [#Cartographers](/foam/new/Cartographers) [#Map_Support](/foam/new/Map_Support)

It's hard to keep up the consistency of adding points on a map. When you're going to dedicate some time and want to make some progress it help to find your preferred organization for your efforts. I have a spreadsheet that I use to keep track of the POI's and signals I add to the map. Here's just a simple checklist that I follow when I get into working on the FOAM Map. 1) Update Status to Verified for "Pending Ended" POI's 2) Consider creation of Signals for POI entering Verified Status 3) Register new POI's based on realistice daily working session goal (can be as few as addding 5 - 10 POI's a day) -Optional- 1) Review 10 points of other cartographers 2) Challenge for corrections 3) Vote on challenges [#Cartographers](/foam/new/Cartographers) [#Map_Support](/foam/new/Map_Support)

[@MurphSlaw](/user/profile/MurphSlaw) Do you believe FOAM has not exited? If so why?

There are reasons sometimes why progress occurs in silence. Sometimes silence is the precursor to a halt while at other times it leads to a reemergence. Regardless of outcome which is beyond my knowledge, I hold the FOAM team's work in high esteem for the awareness they sourced and the work they accomplished. Commenting on whether FOAM will prove to be a going concern, I can only say that I hope so. What I do know is that interest remains and there is at least one group organizing and preparing for a nationwide integration within a developing country with investment in technologies of which FOAM is a hopeful inclusion. If it so happens that FOAM as you put it, exits, it would be a sad end to the the most noble of efforts. Until declared though I will progress with positive pulse on the path, toward results that will only reveal themselves in good time, and will steer clear of pestilent punk prognostication.

Absolutely agree [@MurphSlaw](/user/profile/MurphSlaw) that Cartographers uniting around the Health Industry within our consensus driven map would be helpful during these strange times. Similarly, I wrote a blog last month that discussed our at the beginning of the outbreak in the US, Emergency Physicians began to curate a consensus driven map of cases ([https://blog.foam.space/mta-demo-day-maps-in-light-of-pandemic-call-for-innovation-73b5bcde27c2](https://blog.foam.space/mta-demo-day-maps-in-light-of-pandemic-call-for-innovation-73b5bcde27c2) ). Would love to brainstorm initiatives on what areas of the health industry specifically could most benefit from cartography these days. I've had ideas around availability of medical supplies, hospital wait-times and even testing wait times. Thanks for your thoughtful and constructive contribution!

Awesome to see your interest Jordan! We're doing very well and excited to make an impact with FOAM Map and FOAM location. I would love if you could contribute ideas or feedback on how FOAM Map could be used to ameliorate the harms of the pandemic e.g. a way to show open shops or availability of masks etc. Re: beacons updates -- join our newsletter and you'll receive updates through there [https://upscri.be/b845ab/](https://upscri.be/b845ab/)

I would also like to know this. Should we expect to get an answer from the team considering Jessica is the only member from FOAM in this group? When does everyone else from FOAM plan to join the discussion? Shouldn't they have been the very first people to join? In case anyone is wondering, connecting Relevant to your MetaMask account is also required to comment, not just to create a new post.
