Although this looks rather less significant when you consider that the unemployment rate for people under 25 is currently 14.3%, compared to the over unemployment rate for people over the age of 50, which is 3.9%, or the national average which is 5.0%. So despite the "biggest jobs fall since the 1980", people over the age of 50 are still less likely to be unemployed than any other demographic. It can be seen from govt. Official website.
