Personally, I don't like the notion of thinking of nature as an asset. I get the idea of talking in a language that 'hard-headed business types' can understand. But to me it is just a variation on the same kind of thinking that got us in to this mess in the first place.

I'd tend to agree.The supportive-argument is that our society only acts to value something if we put a monetary value on it. Either way it needs agreed regulations.
