It's not just West it's China and all countries that plunder the Earth in a monster Capitalist system whose beating heart is greed and profit above all else that has pushed Earth to the abyss- until humanity dumps this system and decides to live within the limits of the natural world we will. although not as mindlessly as in the U.K the U.S here in Australia and across much of Europe now. Our rate of consumption is insane and our diets and sheer thoughtless-ness in regards to waste is creating havoc, I wish people understood the words "irreversible damage"

But it does not have to, civilization without carbon fuels is like civilization without CFCs, you wont even notice except the air will be sweeter air and fewer storms eventually. Ending carbon fossil fuels is easy, except for bribed politicians and and billionaire media.

This is Because western 'civilisation' is based on unsustainable exploitation of the earth's resources to feed unlimited consumer demands. We have to learn to balance our living standards to what our planet can safely provide, without ecological collapse.
