The Kunstverein Braunschweig has dedicated an exhibition to the Afro-German philosopher Amo Afer. In the interest of post-colonial canon shifting, Amo's philosophy is made the subject of artistic discussion here. The European-Enlightenment dualism, in the tradition of which Amos' philosophy stands and which provides for a strict separation of the immaterial spirit from the living, sensitive body, presents the artists involved in the exhibition with the challenge of reacting to Amo's historical situation in a context-sensitive manner . As Ines Kleesattel elaborates, the enormous relevance of Amos to the present emerges on the margins of the historically documented. The exhibition, which can also be viewed online due to Corona, will soon also be shown at Savvy Contemporary in Berlin.
