The three common pains that drive DAOs away from open debate include noise, async and text that cause delay, and debates that create anger. The article concludes that closed decisions also have costs as they hide flaws, and decisions feel “fixed” and argues that DAOs must find a balance between open and closed decision-making processes to avoid losing wise and talented people, which is an existential threat to their mission.
