I think El Salvador was just trying to save some money on remittances. But in doing so, they've created a ton of confusion about what it means. And this confusion may very well lead to people finding new ways to integrate bitcoin into their broader economy. There certainly is no obvious way that bitcoin becomes widely used like traditional currencies, or comes anywhere near replacing them in El Salvador, or anywhere. Not yet anyway. But that people believe otherwise may be a good thing to some degree.
