Maybe this is better for the general culture or news communities - I personally feel that the content posted in this community should be in line with critical race theorists/theory and that anyone who doesn’t know what CRT is (or, even, how weird it is to try and define it in such broad strokes) should go do some reading and then come back here. I don’t say that antagonistically at all- but for real, the whole debate about “what CRT is” and whether or not it should be “allowed” in schools is super confounding and misdirecting.

I’m not going to downvote this because the topic doesn’t deserve that, but I do find myself at times frustrated at the basic(?) nature of a lot of the articles getting posted here.

Critical race theory is an examination at how American social and legal systems upholds white supremacy. So republicans trying to ban it in schools would basically mean students wouldn’t be able to learn about slavery, civil rights, or redlining since those are part of CRT.

Yeah, but a better article for this group (for me) would be more like a piece on why the “CRT ban” debate is misguided because the topics you listed have already been de facto banned in schools across the country for decades. That’s a more “alt-woke” topic. Spending all this time describing CRT and needing to justify its validity is some neoliberal ass deception, and it shouldn’t even be a question. I think the members of this group should push for more nuanced, insightful stuff than this which is like, pretty rudimentary. But for real, excuse me if I’m harping on a dumb point.
