TikTok has about 1 billion monthly active global users, 100 million US users, and 60% of them are Generation Z. Among all the Gen-Z users, 83% of them had posted videos on TikTok(“TikTok Statistics — 2021”). TikTok, in ordinary people’s perspective, might be just a social media platform for young people to post short dancing videos or a place full of naive, funny, or sometimes stupid memes. Yet, virtually, TikTok also has a strong relationship with politics and social justice, from LGBTQ+ rights to Black Lives Matter to promote stopping AAPI Hate to raise awareness of wearing masks during pandemics. TikTok content creators have not left a single social issue behind(Hosie. “More than just Tok”).
