Ever since humankind first applied prehistoric paints to cave walls some 30,000 years ago, we’ve gone on to create art with a broad range of intentions. Sometimes we do it to celebrate beauty, or to commemorate some important event. We do it to express love or anger. In other cases we do it seemingly with no intention at all; merely to give form to some vague idea or feeling. And sometimes we create art to change the world.
