I think the issue is the asymmetry of standards enforcement. A whataboutism but there are examples of trump's critics saying things that meet the exact same standard of noncompliance that go unpunished. One argument is, are the public squares, exempt from lawsuits for what users say or are they publishers who control content and are therefore suable? They want it both ways but arguably shouldn't be granted that luxury.
