I can't help but wonder is it a failed state or is it working exactly as it is supposed to where the system benefits wealth inequality holding the "right" demographics of people, enabling racist, ableist, normative society? The problem of how we got to where we are is a long puzzle, its time for every structure to purposely flatten the hierarchy of its authority. "For forty years, since Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan brought neoliberal capitalism to the world, both Britain and the United States, along with their satellite countries, have diminished the state’s ability to provide the basic sense of security required for national unity. It’s hardly surprising that our paper-thin national identity is torn and faded while the word tribalism has taken on new currency."
